How do I get donors interested in Lions activities?

Donors may be interested in future Lions activities

Every donor is valuable and should always be thanked for their donation . If the donor wants to talk more and is interested in Lions activities, this is a good opportunity to get them interested in our work. It’s worth starting with the easy way. If you meet him/her more often, you can ask if he/she would like to join us in organising ALAP collections. That can be a good way to get a new membership off the ground.

Along with a thank you, it’s a good idea to briefly talk about Lions activities and what else we organise in your community. This may get the donor interested in attending future events or even joining in.

When a donor learns about the volunteer work behind the fundraiser, they may be interested in helping in the future. A brief conversation and a warm encounter can open the door to a long-term partnership.

A systematic way to get a marketing channel to donors

Often interested donors are too busy and therefore it is good to have a way to get them to follow our upcoming events and thus become aware of our activities and events.

A good way to do this is a quick invitation to come and follow us in your area in your own “seuraa.lions.fi“ WhatsApp group, where clubs in the area can post announcements about their own events to followers who have joined the group.

How does this work in practice?

At fundraising meetings we meet people who already want to help. This is the best time to ask them to follow our upcoming events easily in the WhatsApp group at seuraa.lions.fi

This is done by asking donors, “Thank you. Would you like to hear about our upcoming events on WhatsApp?Subscribe with this QR code to be notified of our upcoming activities.”

You can also offer help to join and show them how to do it in practice if they don’t know how to use QR codes.

Before you start inviting people to join, it’s a good idea to create a WhatsApp group for your area on seuraa.lions.fi. This will give your area a communication channel directly to your own lions fans and allow you to market upcoming events to them. Read more instructions at: seuraa.jellona.info

It is important to have active and social Lions members at the collection point who are good at talking and encouraging people to join in. Think in advance about who in your club would be good to ask for donations to follow our upcoming events.

Download and print the invitation leaflet on the table at the collection point at seuraa.lions.fi, which includes a QR code to join the WhatsApp group.

Also think about different ways you could invite donors to follow upcoming activities. Discuss which members of your club would be good in this role and how you can work together to make upcoming events more visible.
