How do I present the collection at a club meeting?

0

Present the ALAP collection idea

  1. Think about what your club members are interested in and what they want to know about ALAP.
  2. Show the videos on the training page that explain the fundraiser.
  3. Focus on what motivates your club members and how the fundraiser supports the values of Lions.

How to get clubs involved in fundraising

  1. Once the decision to hold a fundraiser has been made, think about how to get club members to sign up.
  2. You can organise sign-ups at club meetings or use a group such as Nameshout or a WhatsApp group, which can be an existing group in your club or a dedicated group set up for this purpose – you can also use WhatsApp to make last-minute appeals to take part in the collection.
  3. Ask other clubs and partners to get involved, especially those that the club has helped in the past, such as the Scouts.
  4. In most cases, the best way to do this is to ask for participants in the traditional way, for example at a club meeting.

A few tips we have learned

  1. Plan your fundraising schedule in advance before asking others to commit.
  2. Avoid vague talk about the collection date – make sure times and shifts are clearly defined.
  3. Communicate clearly to all participants so that everyone knows their role.

Exercise

Make a short presentation to sell the idea to the club. Practise presenting it and think about what might inspire club members to get involved.

Use the example speech below to help you. Adapt it to suit you and your club.

Introduction and introduction to the fundraiser

Today I would like to introduce you to a great activity and opportunity for Lions, the “Help a Child, Help a Family ” fundraiser.

This is a collection of goods to support families with children in need here in our area. Families may have difficulties due to financial challenges or unexpected life circumstances, for example. We could bring tangible help and joy to families and especially to their children.

🤔 Why is this important for us?

Lions activities are based on volunteerism and the desire to help. This collection is, in my opinion, a great way to help those in need. It allows us to:

  • Help locally – the goods go directly to families with children in need.
  • Create positive visibility for our club and for Lions activities as a whole.
  • Connect our members to tangible and easy-to-do charitable work.

🎤 Next, let’s watch videos of what store customers and other Lions have to say about their experiences with ALAP collections:

🙂 Engagement and recruitment of participants

When we decide to participate in a collection, it is important that we get enough volunteers to participate. To solve this, we can:

🔹 A WhatsApp group for sign-ups
🔹 Invite other clubs and partners to join us.
🔹 Ask for help from local actors, such as scouts or youth organisations we have helped.

🫶 Practical arrangements and communication

To make the collection a success, we need to make sure:
✔ A clear schedule – when and where the collection will take place
✔ Members’ commitment – who will do what and when.
✔ Effective communication – informing participants and partners

Final summary and decision making

Shall we go ahead with this important collection together?

If yes, we can agree on the first step right away:
📌 Do I take responsibility for the practical arrangements of the collection?
📌 How will registration be handled?
📌 When and where will we hold the first planning meeting?

Thank you all! Let’s make this a great and impressive collection together!
