What is an ALAP collection?

ALAP Collection in brief

  1. The full name of the ALAP collection is the “Help a child, help a family” collection
  2. The ALAP collection helps families with children by providing them with store-bought and donated products.
  3. The collection is run by Lions clubs in conjunction with partners.
  4. It’s an easy way to do good and inspire others to get involved.

A brief history of collections:

  1. The collection was invented by Leo, where young people wanted to find a tangible way to help families with children in need.
  2. Lions Club Helsinki Finlandia brought the concept to Finland and started to organise collections.
  3. The collection has become an official activity of the Finnish Lions League and has grown into a significant form of aid, where volunteers and donors can directly support families in need.
  4. Recently, the collection has started to be called ALAP among Lions, but when talking to others it is better to use the real name “Help a Child, Help a Family” instead of the ALAP acronym.
