Back to: Help a Child, Help a Family – volunteer course

ALAP collection in brief
- The full name of the ALAP collection is “Help a Child, Help a Family“.
- The ALAP collection helps families with children by providing them with products donated from shops.
- The collection is run by Lions Clubs together with partners.
- It’s an easy way to do good and inspire others to get involved.
A brief history of collections:
- The fundraiser started in Leo, where young people wanted to find a tangible way to help families with children in need.
- Lions Club Helsinki Finlandia brought the concept to Finland and started to organise collections.
- The collection has become an official activity of the Finnish Lions League and has grown into a significant form of aid, where volunteers and donors can directly support families in need.
- Recently, the collection has started to be called ALAP among Lions, but when talking to others it is better to use the real name “Help a Child, Help a Family” instead of the abbreviation.
